  • Make mincemeat

Christmas Eve

  1. Defrost any meat
  2. Make bread sauce
  3. Make stuffing
  4. Cut vegetables to be raosted and leave in a roasting dish
  5. Make heidi pie for vegetarians
  6. Make mince pies
  7. Leave turkey, stuffing and butter out overnight - to reach room temperature.

Christmas Day

07:50

* preheat oven to 220&degC
* prepare turkey

08:20

* place turkey in oven for 30 mins
* peel potatoes and cover with cold water

08:50

* reduce oven temperature to 170&degC
* cook turkey for further 3 hours

11:50

* take foil and bacon off turkey
* baste turkey  
* return to oven at 200&degC for 30 mins - baste continuously

12:15

* parboil potatoes for 10-20 mins
* drain and shake

12:30

* roast potatoes for 45 mins at 220&degC
* take turkey out of oven, check if juices clear
* leave turkey to sit, covered loosely with foil

* put parsnips and carrots in oven at 220&degC for 20 ins

12:45

* put stuffing in oven

13:10

* put sausages in oven

13:15

* cook any greens

13:30

* serve
