Chocolate & Orange Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 orange
  • butter (for greasing)
  • 100g plain chocolate
  • 3 eggs
  • 280g caster sugar
  • 240ml sunflower oil
  • 25g cocaoa powder
  • 250g plain flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
Gamache
  • 200g plain chocolate
  • 275ml double cream
Decoration
  • candied orange peel
To serve
  • single cream

Method

  1. preheat oven 180 deg C
  2. skewer orange right through, boil for 30 mins until soft
  3. put whole orange into food processor until smooth
  4. grease time
  5. melt chocolate and leave it to cool
  6. in large bowl, lightly beat eggs, sugar and oil
  7. gradually beat in orange (disccard any pips)
  8. stir in cooled chocolate, sift in cocoa, flour & baking powder
  9. mix well, stir into tin
  10. bake 55 mins

  1. melt chocolate into Gamache tin
  2. bring cream to boil and pour over chocolate
  3. leave for 2 mins, stir until smooth

  1. fridge until firm enough to spread
  2. add peel
